Just a quick change of subject, does anyone know the story behind Katawa Shoujo? I've read it this week and thought it was pretty nice. Lily despite being blind has a degree of independence at the school & not only is she one of the best characters, she acts as a mother/sister/friend figure to Hanako.įinished all of the Hanako routes and i've gotta say it's my favorite girl so far, the fact that i have some things in common with her helped a bit, the relation between her and Lily is also a beautiful one to see, loved the way her good path ended (when she kissed Hisao), looked perfect, seeing her naked body in that scene in her room made me realize she's more beautiful than it looked the first time i saw her, as dumb as it may sound, i think tthose burns made her beauty kinda unique, the only girl left before doing Kenji's path is Lilly, is she as good as the people say? 'Cause that got me pretty hyped up. Shizune still interacts with people through her signing and Misha (WAHAHA), Hisao even learns signing to be able to talk to her, so when she's signing furiously like she does sometimes he can't keep up. Emi's on the track team despite losing both her legs and hates being in a wheelchair because she wants to run, Rin paints despite having no arms and part of her route is getting her work shown in a gallery. If you actually played it, you'd realize the disability the girl has is the least of their problems. Each girl is just a girl who has bigger problems relating to themselves or their family. And that's one of the best things about Katawa is it doesn't fetishize disability.
The reason I bring all this up is "Plus I just find it disgusting and humiliating for disabled ppl", this is the central tennent of Hanako's path in that you're showing them pity because they're different rather than just treating them as a normal person.
